My husband has worked for the same company for most of his life. For the most part, he has enjoyed it. But that is starting to change. He is getting bored with the work, and he wants something that will challenge him. Besides that, the company has not offered him much of a chance to advance. He is not making much more than he was when he first started working for them. Our family has grown since then, and it is no longer enough. He has been seriously considering getting a new job. So when his company offered him career transition and outplacement services if he would volunteer for a lay off, he was overjoyed.
