The Diabetic Foot in Diabetic Patients

Due to the pathophysiological process of diabetes this diabetic foot is being put at an increased risk of developing complications.  What happens in diabetes is that the nerve is being affected especially the nerves in the feet and legs so therefore any damage in the  legs and feet such as injury will not be felt. The blood circulation is also affected in diabetes that’s the reason why there is a poor healing process that is happening to patients who are suffering this condition. Diabetes also affects the collagen in the ligaments, so the joints are stiffer in those with diabetes. Those with diabetes also tend to be heavier, which also puts the foot at increased risk for damage. Diabetes also affects the eyes, which mean when there is damage to the foot; they cannot inspect it to look after it.
