Unemployment Benefits and your Tax Obligations
Because I became a mother at a young age of 16, I wasn’t able to finish my studies. This resulted to my inability to find a job with a decent pay. Apart from that, I have to look after my babies for I cannot afford to leave them and have them taken care of by other people. Although I really hate to admit it, I’m a part of the numerous unemployed individuals in the world today. Nonetheless, a friend of mine told me that I can avail of unemployment benefits to cover for my basic necessities while I’m still looking for a job. Now I wonder, are unemployment benefits subject to social security tax? I need to know it so I can budget the funds fittingly.
