Exercising outdoors is more entertaining and hence easier to stick with
I have had my gym membership at Gold’s Gym for just over 2 years now. I have had bouts of regular attendance at my gym followed by a few months of no attendance at all. It’s easy for me to stick with a gym routine once I’ve started it, but starting is a bit tricky. Often life and various obligations get in the way of making the gym a regular habit. Exercising outdoors, however, is a much more sustainable mode of working out, for me at least. It is more enjoyable, for one thing; and also easier to make into a social event. I like the feeling of being outside, and enjoying the scenery. My favoured mode of outdoor exercise is hiking. It brings me to so many beautiful places and can be as hard or as easy as I want. I can also bring a lot of friends along and it doesn’t feel like work at all. And by the soreness I feel the next day, I know it was a worthwhile workout, indeed.
